I know in North Carolina there is no closed season or bag limits on coyotes. Does anyone know if you can take them at night with a light, kinda like coon hunting? I would think not but the regulation handbook says nothing about methods of how you can or cant take them.
Yeah trapping is a method. Me and my brother used to run a fox pen, but you never get that many people trapping them. I just think if I could get out at night I could put a dent in the population. Also the problem is not solved by trapping and relocating even in pens. They can and will escape. All it takes is a tree fallen on the wire and your problem could be worse than when you started. I have seen the coyotes back in the wild with bob tails. I say give me the light and wish me luck!!!!!
NC DNR has tossed this idea around for a few years now. last I heard they were considering letting us use amber lights to hunt them. we have an open season on yotes.

Light, rifle, shotgun and a caller, tying a bloody rabbit skin to a tree limb then tie fishing line to it, pull away about 50 yrds. Give it a tug every now and then while your calling.Hope this helps
sorry for the delay, we got 1, and a grey fox, also called in a slooowww moving oppossum.. best part of the night was afterwards, nice case of "diet cola" in the cooler
